Description
Fehling’s Solution No. 2 is a key component of Fehling’s reagent, used in qualitative analysis, particularly for detecting reducing sugars and aldehydes. It’s a deep blue, alkaline solution that, when combined with Fehling’s Solution No. 1, forms a tartrate-copper(II) complex. This complex reacts with reducing agents, causing a color change to red or yellow due to the formation of copper(I) oxide.
